It's important to keep warm during the Winter months in order to avoid colds, flu or more serious health problems like pneumonia and bronchitis. There are some sensible tips you can follow to keep warm, including wearing multiple layers of appropriate clothing, plugging up drafty windows and doors with insulation, and using space heaters in small areas. TO SAVE MONEY! If you haven’t replaced your furnace in the last 15 years or so, your furnace probably uses a standing pilot to start up the furnace. The biggest problem with standing pilots is they use more gas than the newer electronic ignitions that come in the mid to high efficiency furnaces nowadays. Even if your unit isn’t in need of furnace repairs, the inefficiency of older units should be enough to convince you to replace soon.

Every wonder what the furnace sits on in the garage? Ever wonder what’s behinds the sheet metal but don’t want to take off all 35 screws? This is where the indoor coil goes when a furnace is air conditioner or heat pump ready. If no coil is in this box some times the insulation will fall off the side and in to the plenum blocking air to your home. If no coil is in the cabinet and the airway is blocked, it’s worth the time taking off all 35 sheet metal screws to verify the insulation is where it belongs.

We received a call that a ladies cat was in her duct work, this isn’t uncommon. She said the cat does this for fun, he enjoys lifting the register off and crawling in. This part is not common. The cat intentionally crawls down in to the duct work. We found the cat and he’s doing well. We called the other day to see how things are going and she informed us the cat has learned to find his way out, through another register.
She could start a new duct cleaning service with her Persian cats.
